Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are the hottest trend of 2021 that is continuing this year. In the past 30-days, NFTs have recorded a total of $4.16 billion.

Some of the top NFT collections have been Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, and Art Blocks. Now, another popular collection is World of Women (WoW) NFTs which takes the 22nd place in terms of all-time sales volume coming in at $161.1 million with over 5,000 buyers.

In the past 30-days, however, World of Women NFTs have gained a lot of traction and climbed to the 10th spot with $66.69 million in sales volume, recording a surge of more than 500%.

The floor price of World of Women NFTs, the lowest they are currently available in the market, has also gone up to 9.35 ETH, up from mere 0.07 ETH at the time of its launch.

So what has made these NFTs so popular, and what are they exactly? Let’s talk about it.

World of Women (WOW) NFTs

As NFT mania rules the crypto world and starts to gain more mainstream adoption, in July 2021, creator Yam Karkai launched a collection of 10,000 unique, diverse women avatars on the Ethereum blockchain and hosted on IPFS.

WoW is a female-oriented NFT project and counts actress Reese Witherspoon, who changed her Twitter profile picture to a blonde-haired, blue-skinned WoW avatar back in mid-October, among its collectors, as well as Brit Moran, Shonda Rhimes, and Eva Longoria.

Much like the popular NFT project Bored Ape yacht Club (BAYC), the WOW NFT holder gets 100% ownership and all of its Intellectual Property (IP) rights, serving “as a significant difference-maker in decentralized intellectual property.”

It means WoW NFT holders can use their WoW any way they want, including commercially, but the project retains a ‘master’ licensing right overall 10,000 NFTs. IP ownership is transferred when the NFT is sold.

Offering its holders the commercial rights to their art is one of the big perks of owning WoW NFTs. One WoW holder has already launched their own Apple Cider brand using their NFT, and another collector has used the NFT to create her digital identity.

These ERC-721 tokens are randomly generated digital collectibles of a varying rarity, with some rare, some NFTs very rare, and some even exceptional. For instance, these 10,000 randomly generated NFTs consist of traits including 28 eye combinations, 17 pairs of earrings, 14 skin tones, 11 backgrounds, and 7 lip colors.

While each WoW NFT is an 800x800 PNG file available for the right click savers, it is only by owning a WoW NFT that one can unlock its super high resolution 4000x4000 version.

The WoW team also gave out 100 signed framed prints to token owners, as well as released their own piano album which is available on Spotify.

Big Developments

Most recently, World of Women (WOW) announced the launch of DAWOW, in an attempt to be more decentralized by allowing NFT holders to make decisions about the project’s future.

The first step into community governance was taken with DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization called DAWOW, where NFT holders are given a voice in the project. Each WoW NFT holder has one vote, and currently, there are more than 5,000 individual owners of WOW NFTs.

“We believe that thousands of community members can be smarter than just a few,” says the team.

Later in February 2022, the World of Women will be coming to the Seattle NFT Museum. The exhibition will run from February 26th through March, coinciding with Women's History Month.

In another development, after signing for the representation of the popular NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club and its creator Yuga Labs in October 2021, music industry veteran and longtime tech investor Guy Oseary have expanded his NFT portfolio to now cover World of Women (WOW) as well.

Oseary, who also manages Madonna, U2, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, announced in Jan. 2022 that he will now also represent WOW in partnership with DCA cofounders Aaron Berndtson and Eben Smith.

The signing will help WoW explore opportunities in television, film, music, gaming, and consumer products, among other categories, as well as licensing pacts. The news of partnership helped WOW NFTs floor price to more than double at 7.5 ETH.

“I could not be more excited to start 2022 with this new chapter. The World of Women team is thrilled to be working with Guy Oseary — his expertise is truly generational, and we cannot imagine a better partner to help maximize the project’s potential and achieve our goals,” said Karkai at the time.

With this project, Oseary is helping change the narrative of females only, making up a mere five percent of multi-billion dollar NFT business.

The World of Women team has built a community that is authentic, diverse, and one-of-a-kind,” said Oseary noting that he wants to further their message, influence, and reach.

Oseary is no stranger to the crypto world, together with Ashton Kutcher through their own VC firm Sound Ventures, he has invested in popular NFT platforms Dapper Labs, OpenSea, and SuperRare, as well as several other related platforms.

Before this, WoW signed a deal with Universal Music group by launching a series of NFTs of recording artist Kendra Jae, together at 10:22 PM. 10:22 PM is Universal Music Group’s next-gen label, whose founder Celine Joshua said WoW is “bringing more women into the world of NFTs and blockchain.”

They have also inked a deal with the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US, Coinbase’s upcoming NFT platform, which saw over 1 million people signing up for its wait-list within just 24 hours of the announcement.

The WoW brand then teamed up with ThoughtMatter, a talented design studio from New York City, to redesign the WoW brand to fit their ambitions and beliefs — to make the brand “iconic and easily recognizable”. As part of this rebranding, a clothing line will also be made available exclusively to WoW holders.

A Philanthropic Effort

World of Women is all about growing the NFT art space and lifting this market up by promoting up and coming artists.

On July 27th, the team sold all but 200, which was kept for the team, giveaways, and marketing, of its 10,000 NFT collection.

Out of the total proceeds of the sale, where each NFT was sold for 0.07 ETH, the team donated 2.5% of the sales to three causes each, including She's the First, Too Young to Wed, and Strange Cintia. As of mid-December 2021, the project had donated more than $250,000 to charities.

Charities play a huge role in WoW's mission to help women-focused causes around the world and recently they onboarded Women and Climate’s Rights activist Inna Modja to join their team as their Philanthropy Advisor.

Their charity assistance has also been expanded to cover ecological causes, now working with Code Green to finance verified citizen-powered climate solutions.

The World of Women team has allocated 15% of the primary sales for WoW Fund. The WoW Fund will operate freely and will further be open to suggestions and recommendations of its community.

According to its website, a specific 'recommend art' channel will be opened on Discord along with voting polls' where the Fund will frequently ask the community's opinion on specific NFTs. The Curators Club members meanwhile will have control over the Fund's activity once a month.

The Fund will focus on acquiring 1/1 pieces from artists involved in the space and will look for NFTs under 0.3 ETH. The team also plans to have a metaverse gallery in the Sandbox to showcase their art collection, which is already public and visible on tryshowtime or OpenSea.

Overall, the mission of the Fund is to build a collection through the acquisition of 1/1 Crypto art pieces, promote and showcase the artists from its collection, make purchases requested by the Curator’s Club, and take into consideration the recommendations of all WoW NFTs owners.

How to get your hands on WoW NFT?

Before WoW, World of Women NFT creator Yam’s genesis NFT collection called Women by Yam - Females in the spotlight was released on Foundation and OpenSea. Given that it has already sold out, you can only buy it now on the secondary market.

Her WoW NFT collection was also sold out overnight, and with WoW NFTs already minted during this launch in July, currently, these NFTs are only available on secondary markets like OpenSea.

OpenSea is the largest NFT marketplace, on which NFTs are primarily bought and sold in Ether (ETH), the native crypto asset of Ethereum blockchain. So, before going on OpenSea, it would be best to fund your wallet MetaMask, the most popular web wallet used to trade NFTs, with some ETH.

So, once you have downloaded and installed the MetaMask application on your phone or computer, log in to the OpenSea website and go to the user icon at the top right corner of your screen. There, clock on “My Profile,” which will prompt you to sign in to your MetaMask wallet or any other supported wallets on the platform.

Once you are signed in on the OpenSea website, search for the WoW NFT collection. Now click on the WoW NFT that you like and want to buy, and you will find all the information. There, click on Buy Now and follow the instructions to checkout. Make sure to confirm your transactions in your MetaMask wallet.

In case you want to sell the WoW avatar on the OpenSea website, go to the top of the screen and click on the sell button. From there, just follow the instructions to set it up for auction. Keep in mind that OpenSea charges a 2.5% fee on every transaction that happens on its platform.

Final Word

NFTs have emerged as a new monetization model for creators, a value-adding tool that is at its beginning stages. Given that blockchains are immutable and data is easily verifiable, this technology has immense potential and can see its use cases beyond just art and collectibles to music, ticketing, finance, gaming, academic certifications, and much more.

While their current implementation is limited and not perfect, especially with the sector seeing wash trading, which is not yet subject to enforcement action. Overall, NFTs are in their initial phase with a bright future. Already, the NFT marketplace is estimated to be worth as much as $45 billion.

For now, NFTs are seeing their application in digital art and providing creators with a greater degree of distribution control over their assets.

Among digital artwork collections, the World of Women NFTs is seeing a lot of traction thanks to their partnerships, celebrity engagement, and exclusive benefits to holders.

The WoW team is also planning to release an extension of the WoW collection, Galaxy of Women, which is still in the works and will be dropped in 2022. Interestingly, every WoW owner will be able to claim an NFT from the second collection for free. Additionally, the new anticipated collection will come with exclusive benefits.

But this is not all, as the World of Women team is further organizing a WoW meetup, which will take place in the summer of 2022. Details are yet to be announced, but the event will be held in the US, where the majority of the holders currently reside.

WoW has also been doing monthly “ArtDrops,” where they are airdropping pieces by emerging crypto artists from around the world into members’ virtual wallets.

With so many exclusive benefits offered by WoW NFTs, they surely hold a lot of appeal for investors. Not to mention, the project has a roadmap that promises growth and more upside.
