Some of the first non-fungible tokens were created on the Ethereum blockchain in 2017. The crypto community was quick to realize the potential of NFTs, and soon a number of platforms and marketplaces dedicated to NFTs began to emerge.
One of the earliest and most popular NFT platforms is OpenSea, which launched in early 2018. OpenSea allows users to buy, sell, or auction a wide variety of digital items, including art, collectibles, and in-game items.
Since then, a number of other NFT platforms have been launched, such as SuperRare, Rarible, and Foundation. And as the NFT market continues to grow, we can expect to see even more platforms and marketplaces emerge in the coming years.
Who knows? Maybe one day we'll even see an NFT version of the Mona Lisa!
