Ryan Butz, Vice President of Loyalty, Strategy, and Marketing at Starbucks, notes, “Building Starbucks Odyssey using technology that aligns with our sustainability aspirations and commitments is a top priority.”

Starbucks revealed its plans to launch Starbucks Odyssey, a platform that integrates NFT stamps with its loyalty program. The announcement came after the coffeehouse giant announced its plans to venture into the Web3 space in May.

Set to debut later this year, Starbucks Odyssey will allow US-based Starbucks patrons to purchase and earn NFT tokens. Starbucks’ Web3 project will be built on Polygon Network, and users can join the waitlist by signing up using their Starbucks Account.

According to Polygon’s Co-Founder, Sandeep Nailwal,

“Polygon is a natural choice for Starbucks as both companies place tremendous importance on diversity, accessibility, and sustainability.”

Each NFT collectible will have a point based on the rarity of the token, with more benefits and experiences available to the users as they rank up more points. Starbucks claims that the rewards system would include access to virtual latte-making classes, a trip to Starbucks Hacienda Alsacia coffee farm, and unique Starbucks merchandise.

The NFT stamps would feature iconic artworks created in collaboration with the company’s partners and outside artists, with said artists receiving a percentage of the sale proceeds.
