Spike Lee and The Visible Project have announced that they will be releasing a series of "She's Gotta Have It" NFTs based on Mars Blackmon, the iconic character from Lee's 1986 film of the same name.
The NFTs will be available for purchase on the website visibleproject.org, and will be released in a limited edition of 100. Each NFT will be minted on the Ethereum blockchain and will be available for purchase with either ETH or BTC.
The Visible Project is a non-profit organization that uses emerging technologies to create opportunities for marginalized communities. The release of the "She's Gotta Have It" NFTs is part of the organization's larger goal of using NFTs to fund social justice initiatives.
"We are beyond thrilled to be able to mint these one-of-a-kind NFTs with Spike Lee and The Visible Project," said Mars Blackmon in a statement. "NFTs have the potential to revolutionize the way we fund social justice initiatives, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for this technology."
The "She's Gotta Have It" NFTs are the latest in a series of high-profile NFT releases. In February, Jack Dorsey sold the first-ever tweet as an NFT for $2.9 million, and earlier this month, Kings of Leon released an NFT album called "When You See Yourself."
As the NFT craze continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how more celebrities and brands begin to experiment with this new technology.
