A month after testing NFTs on Facebook profiles, Meta adds NFT support on its photo-sharing platform Instagram. The tech giant has also begun integrating support for Dapper and Coinbase wallets.

Expanding Web3 Services To Instagram

Despite suffering a $2.8B loss from investing in the metaverse, Meta begins NFT support on Instagram to allow creators, artists, and designers to display their NFTs.

The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced the NFT support on Instagram for over 100 countries, including the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and the America via a Facebook post. After this expansion, users can connect their supported wallets to post and share their NFTs, and the creator and owner of said NFTs will be tagged automatically.

Support For More Blockchains And Wallets

As of writing this article, Instagram supports NFTs minted on the Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow blockchains, with the Flow NFTs added as a part of this update. As a result, the value of the FLOW token has gone up, with a 45% rise in value observed in the last 24 hours.

By adding support for Dapper and Coinbase integrations, this update increases the number of compatible NFT wallets to five: MetaMask, Trust, Dapper, Coinbase, and Rainbow wallets.

Meta’s Venture Into The Metaverse

This isn’t Meta’s first venture into the world of NFTs; the multinational tech conglomerate has had a series of testing phases of NFT integrations on its social media platforms in the last quarter.

Meta first rolled out support for Ethereum and Polygon NFTs on Instagram in May, and back then, this feature was only available in the US.

Meta began testing NFTs on its flagship social networking platform Facebook in July, where it allowed select US creators to turn their NFTs into Facebook posts. In the same update, Meta claimed it would add support for Solana NFTs on Facebook and Instagram.
