Gala's Web3 Game on Epic Games

To celebrate Galaverse (June 6-9, 2022), Gala Games is offering a special sale of "The Gunslinger Box." It consists of 10,000 player avatars for GRIT, with each avatar having its specific perks and attributes.

Furthermore, the avatar attributes are generative, providing a unique look to each character. In fact, owners can use their specific weapon skins in-game, giving them an advantage over their counterparts.

"Here at Team GRIT we are invested in this new ecosystem and see all the value that Web3 can bring to the gameplay experience," said GRIT CTO Jon Mavor. "We are excited to be working with Gala Games and by our presence on the Epic Games Store. Web3 will make players' experiences in the Wild West even better."

While the sale started on June 6, it will become gradually accessible over the week. Gala Node owners will get access on June 7 and Gala Gold members on June 8. "The Gunslinger Box" will be available to the public on June 9, and each group can access the sale for 12 hours.

Meanwhile, Gala Games has rapidly become a prominent player in the blockchain gaming space. It has enlisted veteran game developers like Will Wright (The Sims) and Peter Molyneux (Fable) to create NFT-enhanced games. Also, it has signed NFT-savvy celebs like Snoop Dogg and Steve Aoki.

The GALA token is trading below $0.08 at the time of writing, with a total market cap of $520 million.

Epic Games - A New Home For NFT Gaming

Last October, leading PC gaming marketplace Steam decided to ban Web3 games with NFT or crypto integrations. However, rising rival Epic Game Store claimed that it would remain open to such Web3 games.

Tim Sweeney, Epic Games co-founder and CEO, tweeted that Epic Games Store "welcome games that make use of blockchain tech." However, they need to follow "the relevant laws, disclose their terms, and are age-rated by an appropriate group." Although Epic Games is not using blockchain in its games, it welcomes "innovation in the areas of technology and finance."

While being the company behind Epic Games Store and Unreal Engine, Epic Games has also developed the leading battle royale shooter, Fortnite. At the end of 2021, the Epic Games Store had over 194 million total users, making it a perfect launchpad for Gala and GRIT.

"Epic is a pioneer and visionary in the video game industry. Gala Games' titles being available on the Epic Game Store brings legitimacy to this new genre of gaming," said Gala Games President John Osvald. "Easy access to Web3 games is a turning point for those players who have not yet seen how digital ownership can enrich the gaming experience."
