Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricket player, has become the latest sporting icon to join the growing NFT universe. The legendary batsman has signed up Rario, an NFT platform that has a collection of the world's first officially licensed cricket digital collectibles.
Rario's NFT platform allows fans to buy and sell NFTs of their favorite cricketers and international leagues. The collaboration will provide Rario an opportunity to leverage the World Cup-winning icon’s finest cricketing moments in the form of NFTs.
Speaking about the partnership, Ankit Wadhwa, CEO and co-founder of Rario said, "With this partnership, we will be exclusively launching Virender Sehwag's NFT videos, cards, and memorabilia - must-haves for his millions of fans and followers.”
"Until a few years ago, one couldn't have imagined it would be possible for fans to do more than watch the game from the stands or on television. With NFTs, they can participate and own historical moments in cricket, which is incredible. I believe this is a great step for me to be closer to my fans," said Virender Sehwag.
Overall these NFTs will give fans an opportunity to claim ownership over their favorite and memorable piece of cricket history in a tangible and verifiable way.
