NFT-loving rap legends Snoop Dogg and Eminem have come together to release a new music video featuring animated versions of their Bored Ape Yacht Club avatars.
Only a year and a half ago, there appeared to be some bad blood between the two Dr. Dre's proteges, Snoop Dogg and Eminem. Now, the two hip-hop legends have hopped on the mic for a new music video featured as Bored Apes.
On June 24, Eminem tweeted about releasing their new song, "From The D 2 The LBC." Furthermore, the tweet included that song's art, which is in a comic book style with two Bored Apes. Soon after, he swiftly followed up with another tweet advertising the video.
The new music video is produced by 1st Amendment and Young California, in collaboration with the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
The video begins with a shot of Eminem preparing to record a take in the booth. "Yo, why's it so smoky in here man?!" he complains to Snoop, who is sitting in the control room smoking a joint.
Meanwhile, the song has the two rappers shout out their hometowns, Detroit and Long Beach, in its refrain:
"Put your doobies high if you reside in 213, let's see them blunts raised / Whether you east side or west side of the 313, let's see them guns blaze."
Also, the song debuted at the end of this year's ApeFest. It is an annual event in Manhattan, New York, for BAYC and MAYC holders.
Notably, having previously ventured into the space, Eminem and Snoop Dogg are already familiar with non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Further, as depicted by his Twitter profile picture, Eminem is a proud Bored Ape NFT holder. At the end of last year, he purchased the avatar for 123.45 ETH, which was around $450,000 then. Additionally, he has acquired 26 other NFTs under the pseudonym "Shady Holdings" on OpenSea.
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg aped in around the same time. The rap legend collaborated with Moonpay to purchase one BAYC NFT, one Bored Ape Kennel Club companion, and two MAYC NFTs.
However, Snoop has been immersed in crypto for a long time now. Along with KISS bassist Gene Simmons and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the rapper joined a Dogecoin meme train in early 2021.
Also, Snoop Dogg has launched his own branded collectible NFTs and an NFT collaboration with the iconic Nyan Cat meme creator. In addition, he also owns digital real estate in The Sandbox and has hosted events on the metaverse platform.
