As Hollywood expands its reach into NFTs, WME recently signed a Bored Ape Yacht Club DJ Duo called ESCAPEPLAN for all future bookings. Along with CAA and others, WME is considered one of Hollywood's big four talent agencies. The pseudonymous duo uses their Bored Ape NFTs to represent their identities. Thrilled by the opportunity, the DJ Duo tweeted, "Stoked to announce that we've signed with @WME for all bookings! Shoutout to @THR for spreading the good word."

Hollywood Going Bananas Over Bored Ape Avatars

NFTs or non-fungible tokens are unique digital assets that exist on blockchains like Ethereum and signify ownership over an asset, like a Bored Ape IP. ESCAPEPLAN is the first producer and DJ duo consisting of two Bored Ape NFT avatars. The duo consists of Bored Ape #309 and Bored Ape #4321, called zETH and ETHan, respectively. Moreover, BAYC is known for its non-restrictive IP policy, allowing holders to use their NFTs commercially

A long list of musicians and stars have purchased Bored Ape NFTs, including Eminem, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Steve Aoki, and many more. Recently, electronic musician Dillon Francis announced accepting Bored Ape #378 payment for a deal with Big Night Entertainment, which manages ESCAPEPLAN.

ESCAPEPLAN Music Video to Feature Bored Apes

Later this year, the Bored Ape Duo has many songs lined up with Dillon Francis. In an interview with Decrypt, the artist revealed that the upcoming videos would feature many animated Bored Ape NFTs. Francis added, "I had to have an Ape so that I could be in the music video with ESCAPEPLAN."

As a DJ duo, ESCAPEPLAN has already released their debut single "Jungle," featuring rapper Rich the Kid. In the WME signing, the two NFT avatars would work with the agency across bookings, different endorsements and other projects using their IP.

ESCAPEPLAN's manager, Tim Bonito, looks at ESCAPEPLAN as a fusion between Web2 and Web3. In his interview with Decrypt, he said that electronic artists are one of the most receptive to NFTs. Bonito added, "Things change so quickly on Web3 that I think in six months from now, the world is going to be completely different."

After the art industry, in 2022, NFTs have experienced widespread adoption in the music industry. With Katy Perry's Theta drop, Snoop Dogg's The Sandbox collaboration and Universal Music Group entering the NFT space, we can expect more NFT collaborations in the music industry. Stay tuned as we keep you updated with all the latest NFT news.
