Blockchain Scalability Platform Polygon Experiences Intermittent Downtime Leading to Delays in Transfer of NFTs

Gaurav Roy

Blockchain scalability platform Polygon has been experiencing irregular downtime, causing delays in the transfer of NFTs.

Polygon (formerly Matic Network) is a blockchain scalability platform and framework for connecting and building blockchain networks that are compatible with Ethereum. The platform is designed to improve the network’s transaction speed and reduce gas costs.

While the platform was experiencing a downtime, a banner of NFT marketplace OpenSea read, “Polygon is experiencing a demand influx causing intermittent downtime”.

In addition, several users on social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter also voiced their concerns about being unable to transfer their NFTs because of the downtime.

Regarding the issue, the company’s co-founder Jaynti Kanani said that users were facing issues on the platform as they were not sending the correct gas fees.

However, according to the blockchain platform, several users were facing issues mainly due to a high level of activity.

In a tweet, Polygon said, “1/3 A quick update and recommendations on the current state of Polygon PoS: - Polygon PoS is a permissionless network and it is working as expected; There is high level of activity, mainly from bots farming on some DeFi apps; Transaction fees are still very low ($0.1-0.5).”
